What We Do

Versawave manufactures and develops high speed semiconductor transmitter and modulation products operating at speeds of 50 GHz and beyond. Versawave’s unique GaAs-based designs provides market leading performance with respect to low optical loss, high optical power handling and low drive voltages. Utilizing a single waveguide design, Versawave’s technology enables changing either the intensity of the light or polarization state at ultra high rates. Versawave continues to work with the University of BC to develop custom solutions required to develop next generation systems. Versawave’s long history of manufacturing and managing semiconductor supply chains enables it to deliver custom components with class leading functionality and performance cost effectively.

Our Story

Technology Foundation

Versawave’s core technology lies in manipulating the properties of GaAs, a material normally associated with high speed electronic integrated circuits, to create electro-optic devices that can change the properties of light at ultra-high speeds. Versawave has world class expertise in electro-optic device design and semiconductor processing and continues to push the core design for even higher performance. Versawave is working with Dream Photonics and the University of BC to combine the advantage of GaAs with advancements being made in Silicon Photonics to integrate lasers, high speed electronic amplifiers and multiple modulators. Transmission modules that deliver best in industry performance with very low power dissipation are being designed to address new challenges for both space and terrestrial deployment.

Versawave recently relocated to a new manufacturing space in Vancouver and strengthened its management by engaging with industry veterans to manage operations.
